PMR stands for Progressive Muscular Relaxation.
It is a body-focused meditative practice to help reduce ‘body noise’, muscle tension and discomfort.
PMR involves systematically moving through different muscles in the body and then tensing them before relaxing them.
It has been shown that tensing muscles before relaxing results in much deeper levels of relaxation and helps gain the inner nervous system and muscular system awareness needed to relax the physical tension.
